What would YOU give for your soul ?
What’s the point?…
If you gained the world…
… but lost your own soul?
After death, then what? Do you know for sure?
Please read for a few moments and settle this important matter for yourself.
“What is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”[1]
What is the purpose of life?
We eat, drink, sleep and work to live.
We spend our lives building our careers, families and futures.
But after death—what next?
Are you prepared for your eternal future?
Please consider what the Bible says:
“It is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the judgment.”[2]
Life doesn’t end at the grave;
it continues to God’s “law court” where
“every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”[3]
What matters after death is whether your sin has been paid for or not.
But what is sin?
“Sin is the transgression of the law.”[4]
That is, we have all broken God’s holy law.
You might think, “I’m not as bad as some other people!”
But God’s standard is 100% perfection.
“Whosoever shall keep the whole law,
and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”[5]
God won’t judge you based on what everyone else has done,
but according to your own works against His perfect standard of holiness.
Have you judged yourself by God’s standard?
Consider some of God’s Commandments.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”[6]
God alone must be worshipped and have first place in your life— not saints or prophets, relationships, money, sport, or anything else. Have you ever trusted in or loved other things more than God?
“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.”
God alone must be worshipped in spirit and truth, not in the image of His creation. Creating representations of God to worship them, or superstitiously regarding them as “lucky charms” is idolatry.
“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.”
Have you ever uttered swearing and curse words; or used God’s name lightly, without reverence or thought? “The Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”
“Honour thy father and thy mother.”
Have you ever been disrespectful to your parents?
“Thou shalt not kill.”
Causeless anger is murder in the heart. “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer.”[7]
“Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
Even if you’ve never committed the act, what about immoral thoughts? “Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” [8]
“Thou shalt not steal.”
Have you ever taken anything that doesn’t belong to you?
“Thou shalt not bear false witness”
Have you ever told a lie?
“Thou shalt not covet.”
Have you ever lusted after something that doesn’t belong to you, that you can’t have?
Idolatry, immorality and stealing all begin with lustful thinking.
God’s law reveals that “All have sinned”, and “there is none righteous, no, not one.”[9]
God’s justice demands that sin be punished.
“The wages of sin is death.”[10]
Sickness, suffering and death came into the world as a result of sin. The first death is physical — separation of the soul from the body. The second is death of the soul—separation from God for eternity.
“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”[11]
This is God’s final judgment for sin.
But there is hope!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son”[12] – the Lord Jesus Christ.
Though Jesus Christ is God our Creator (“by Him were all things created”[13]), “God was manifest in the flesh”[14] to die on the cross and pay the penalty for our sins. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”[15]
God Himself paid our penalty for sin “with His own blood.”[16]
He was buried, and arose from the dead three days later, defeating the power of sin, death and Hell. Sin’s penalty has been paid for and the way to Heaven is open through Jesus Christ. This is the heart of the Gospel message. “He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him.”[17]
“What must I do to be saved?”[18]
“Repent ye, and believe the Gospel.”[19]
Forsake any sin holding you back from trusting Jesus Christ as Saviour. Stop trying to make yourself acceptable to God, and trusting in your own works to get to Heaven. Instead, rely entirely on Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection as the only way of salvation. This is Biblical repentance and faith.
“By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works…”[20]
Our Problem
Our sins have separated us from God.
No good works or religious efforts can bridge the gap.
God’s Answer
Jesus Christ.
Dear Friend,
Your soul is more important than anything the world can offer. What will you do about it?
No one cares for your soul like Jesus Christ—He died and rose again so you could gain eternal life.
Friend, Jesus loves you.
He paid your death penalty with His own blood.
Will you receive His gift of eternal life today?
If you believe with all your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, then trust Him as your only way of salvation.
Cry out to God in prayer, confessing your sin, and asking Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Saviour.
God promises to answer this prayer.
“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”[21]
